Protecting the Macrogrid
As a start-up non-profit, we want to make sure we can make a difference in an area that’s being neglected.
Although many others are working at the state and federal level, and on encouraging the microgrids as a means of de-carbonizing the grid, nobody else seems to be focused on empowering local citizens to take direct political action to protect community microgrids.
However, we all care about the well-being of more than just the community in which we ourselves live.
So, we hope that as we prove our effectiveness as change agents community-by-community we’ll apply lessons learned to help with projects that will also protect our electric power infrastructure at the state, regional and national level.
Protecting Other Critical Infrastructure
There’s a lot of work to be done to protect the other critical infrastructure upon which we depend for our safety and prosperity: clean water, sanitation, food, transportation, communications, healthcare, manufacturing, supply chains, etc. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency outline 16 critical infrastructure sectors which are considered vital to the United States.
However, as with electric power, there are many organizations already focused on these important vulnerabilities, so initially, we will hope to play a supporting role in which we can augment those efforts through our grassroots activism on this issue.
